I'm Leonie, 22 years old, born and raised in the Netherlands. Even though I do love my country, I dislike it as well. Hence I've moved to the UK on January 19th, 2008. Manchester was my chosen destination, for I fell in love with it a couple of years ago.
Most of my days are spent working, I work as a support clerk in the loans department for that British Bank which sponsors the English Premier League. I don't have an ideal job in mind at the moment, but that might change in the future. Who knows.
About this journal
This journal is mostly public, aside from personal things that I'd rather keep away from RL people who might stumble upon my lj. If you'd like to friend me, I'll friend you back :)
My entries can be divided into a couple of categories: Fangirl Squee, Rants, RL and General Happenings.
Sports
I'm a massive sports fanatic. I love watching sports. Especially Football and Speedskating, at times my lj will contain nothing but Footie and Speedskating posts. During the Olympics my lj will be Olympics Central, though I prefer the Winter Olympics over the Summer Olympics.
My favourite Football teams are Manchester United, AZ Alkmaar, Barcelona and the Dutch National team. Players that I love/like/adore/admire are Cristiano Ronaldo, Ruud van Nistelrooy, Robin van Persie, Edwin van der Sar, Joris Mathijsen, Lionel Messi, Jan Kromkamp and Simon Cziommer.
The best thing about football has to be the slash though. The glorious slash. Players humping on each other's backs, kissing, grabbing, groping and hmm the big man piles. Sogood. Srsly.
Speedskating is something that I've grown up with. It's basically thé national sport of the Netherlands, even though not many people practice it! We need more freezingly cold winters for that again, which is rather worrying.
Anyway, Speedskating is basically summarised as racing on ice. Two skaters against each other and against time, trying to be the fastest on a certain distance. I love it for the thrill and I love to see the skaters push their limits to the maximum.
My favourite skater at the moment is Sven Kramer, current ruler on the long distances. He's cute, but cocky and ambitious like hell. I suppose he can be seen as the Cristiano Ronaldo of Speedskating <333
Other Layers Of Insanity
Of course there's more to life than Sports ;)
I love watching TV series and movies. I have been seriously obsessed with BtVS and Angel in the past and in a way I'll always obsess over those shows because they were my first fandom and they've given me so much joy and yet were also the cause of so much pain because I'm a Buffy/Angel Shipper and that says enough I think. Other than that there's the occasional movie obsession phases and on going love for Harry Potter and Lord Of The Rings.
Right now I'm rather obsessed with the new adaptation of Robin Hood, even though the S2 finale broke my wee little fangirling heart. Woe. Doctor Who is the constant SQUEE factor. I simply adore the New Who series and am an avid Ten/Rose Shipper. Other shows that I love are Heroes, Moonlight, Torchwood, Life On Mars, Ashes To Ashes, Bones, The Tudors, New Amsterdam, Life and Grey's Anatomy.
Garden State would have to be my favourite movie at the moment and I think I won't ever be able to name my movie of all time. I simply love way too many movies for that.
Next to movies and tv series, I need my music. There's only one way that I can express what music means to me and that would be John Miles' "Music":

Sometimes I wish that I was a child of the 60ties/70ties. Those are my favourite two musical decades. Other than oldies music, I love Modern Rock, Punk, Ska, Alternative and some Pop.

I also might lack in commenting on your posts, but that's mainly because I hardly ever know what to say and instead of making an ass of myself, I figure it's best not to be commenting. But I read every entry posted on my flist, I need my daily dosage of flist otherwise I won't be able to function properly. *g*
My babies are my life
I own a domain; October-Rain.org, it is my domain/personal site with fun content. Or well, it used to be before I switched to using LJ fulltime. My domain before that was Forces-Of-Insanity.com, which got lost in a domain host mix up, kind of like what happened to October-Rain.com,my first domain, which was brutally stolen from me by evil webhosts and I also owned Perfect-Memory.net, which I've let expire because I didn't really use it anyway.
